Learn from my experience

Learn from my experiences.
Sometimes it takes a lot of courage to face life and try to survive. You can read my published book "RUTH MINERVA" or reading my blogs. You will have more information.

I was born in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, on January 27, 1942. I had a pretty good life until my grandma Filo, whom I called "Wella" took me to NYC, January 1947. The plane landed at La Guardia airport. I remember that day. We went to live at my Uncle Tony and Aunt Jenny's apartment in Manhattan, on a 5th-floor walk-up. I was happy.
Months later, my mother Carmen arrived at NYC withmy three brothers. She lived in a rented room around the corner from my uncle Tony and God-mother Jenny's home. Weeks later my father Artemio arrived from Puerto Rico and went to live with my mother. My father had only one leg, his other leg was amputated, when he had a truck accident.  Wella Filo had to return to Puerto Rico because Grandpa Jesus needed her. Wella could not take me with her, because my parents applied for welfare and had me on the budget. My heart was broken, I wanted to go with Wella Filo. I had lived all my life with Wella Filo, she was devastated but the law was on my parent's side.
Papi, my father had rented an extra room for me. I hated living with my parents. Months later we moved to an apartment where my hell began. I was molested by my father. Although he apologized I could not trust him.
I went to school, where I had many adventures. I had no sisters, and the girls did not like me, so I became a tomboy. I played with my brothers. I grew up with 9 boys who didn't allow any other boys near me. Norman, my oldest brother taught me how to fight, swim, and many other boy games.
Papi took every opportunity and excuse to sleep with me. I was unable to sleep when he slept on my bed. I felt his penis rub my back and I had to move away from him. I was afraid to tell my mom, because she would not believe me. If I told Norman, my oldest brother, he would have killed him.  When Norman got married I stood in his house every moment that I could.
Finally, I got married and thought I was free. Actually, my second hell started. My first husband mentally tortured me. We moved from place to place until he died in 1984. A lot happened which I wrote in my book.
I moved to Florida, with my second husband Marco. Marco is a recovering addict, bi-polar, he has compulsive behavior, chronic arthritis, needs knee replacement, He is in pain all the time, and became an alcoholic. Marco is a wonderful man, he tries.
I am now a mother of three biological daughters and two biological sons. I have 14 biological grandchildren and two biological great-grandchildren.
Life hasn't been easy but I have survived. My life journey has been arduous, funny, adventurous, mysterious, and unpredictable.
After my experience with my first book, my life changed again. I will be writing the 2nd version of RUTH MINERVA.
My daughters stopped talking to me for almost 3 years. They did not like what I wrote. I had promised myself to write my autobiography opening the closets for the goody-two-shoes who made my life miserable and hurt me. I wanted my daughters to understand why I became who I was and the hurt thhat they had caused me. Instead they turned against me. One day they decided to talk to me. They asked why I wrote the book and I replied. They are to this day talking to me, butI feel that my oldest Ileana and  Lorena, my middle daughter, still resent me. My oldest son still feels that I was the nagger, but he calls and comes to see me. In their eyes, I am the bad one. I stopped making excuses, I don't need excuses for what happened to me.
Today I have achieved everything that I have wanted thanks to God, Goddess, and guardians. I have done all for myself for no one has helped me.
My husband still drinks alcohol but does not bother me. If he wants to kill himself, so be it!
Trying to heal a drug or alcohol abuser is like having a dog not eat bones. My husband takes drugs and medicine from VA Doctors, he also stopped smoking. He still needs his meds and sometimes I forget that he has compulsive behavior. My children have grown up
up and changed with me for the better. They are wonderful parents and grandparents I guess growing up has made them realize the truth. I too have changed, I understand them better. All of my children are good, they are not perfect,  but our love is strong. and they help me in any way the they can.  I'm still looking for a publisher to republish my three books.  I have the rights to them so I can do what I want with them. I am also reorganizing my web page. So many things have happened in my life, I will be writing different subjects, feel free to making suggestions.
This Pandemic has changed everyone's life, have faith all will be good.
and  it continues.....

My apologies for not responding. I did not realize that I had followers and comments. I have been unable to do any writing due to personal health. I will try to be writing often and replying to posts. Thank you for your support. I am also looking for a new publisher. American Star, also known as Publish America filed for bankruptcy. Xantara and the Weeping Willow Tree- Chapter-6-Xantara is acknowledged

Xantara and the Weeping Willow Tree

By Ruth M Garcia-Marmolejos

Chapter 6

Xantara is acknowledged
Shamuel had kept Xantara’s wheeled box, and later, out of curiosity, decided to look through it to find out if she had any relatives. When he looked inside the box, the first thing he found was a picture of him and his sisters and brothers. That’s when he realized that the old woman was his Mother. Abelia, the oldest daughter, and Jediah the oldest son decided to investigate and found out that it was their Mother who had bought and fixed the house, Sinbad then confessed that it was Xantara who helped him to become a success and he took her house away from her. Sinbad told the truth of the
treachery he and the woman did, and how he never sent money for their education. Xantara’s children felt guilty for abandoning their mother when she most needed them. Everyone who thought that it was Sinbad and others who did all the good things felt very bad for not acknowledging Xantara’s hard work.
The willow tree, that Xantara had planted and nurtured, sprouted and grew, every time it started to bend, Xantara straightened it out, which is what she did with her kids, everything she touched and did for others.
Xantara died, sacrificing her sanity, career, life, and freedom.
Xantara’s children, Abelia, Jediah, Etta, Sarit, Uziel, and Shamuel went to Xantara’s grave. “I am so sorry, dear Mother.” Abelia said. “We were so inconsiderate and took you for granted. How can we have forgotten the sacrifices you made for us?"
“It was you who gave us our education.” Jediah said.
“It is because of you that we are all a success.” Etta said.
“We were lied to, I was younger and you told us the house had bugs.” Sarit said.
“You never told us what had really happened.” Uziel said. “You were thrown out of your house. Father betrayed you. The house was truly yours. Father paid lawyers to get you out of the house, the woman was his mistress.”
“How I must have hurt you when I said all those things before you walked out and got killed by the truck.” Shamuel said. “Now the truth is known, but it is too late, for you are gone.”
A bright light appeared and Xantara’s spirit was standing near the willow tree. ”It is never too late.” Xantara said. “I did not care about the sacrifices I made, the love for my children was worth all sacrifices. Everything I did, and everyone I helped I did with pleasure. I accepted all as part of life. Go live your life and teach your kids to be good. I just got my reward. You and everyone have acknowledged my deeds. I have my children’s love, Now my weeping willow and I will weep no more. I love you and God bless you all.”
Xantara’s spirit disappeared and beautiful white and pink flowers began to bloom
from the weeping willow tree. Xantara and the weeping willow tree, will weep no more.
Time went by and Etta had a little girl she named Xantara who looked just like her grandmother. Xantara loved to go to her grandmother’s grave and watered the weeping willow. Xantara was very attracted to the tree. “I feel as though I have been here before.” Xantara said. I wonder if it would be disrespectful to take this tree and transplanted in my house.”
“You can.” A man’s voice was heard. “But I do not think the tree will survive or be happy.”
Xantara turned around and there was a very handsome young man standing in front of her. “Who are you?” Xantara asked. “I did not ask you for your opinion.”
“My apologies Mam!” The young man replied. “My name is Mathew; I did not mean to interrupt. I just wanted to give my opinion is all. I will be going on my way.”
“Wait! Don’t go!” Xantara said. “I’m sorry I did not mean to be rude. My name is Xantara. My grandmother planted this tree here; she is buried next to it. It’s just that for some reason, I’m very attracted to it.”
Xantara and the young man continued to talk and became good friends.
Sometimes children forget the truth about their parents, either because they were too young to remember, or they were told a different story and they would rather believe the stories they were told than to remember the truth. In the end, the truth always comes out.

Xantara and the Weeping Willow Tree-Chapter 5, Encounter with her son

Xantara and the Weeping Willow Tree
By Ruth M Garcia-Marmolejos

Chapter 5
Encounter with her son
One day, Xantara was walking along the sidewalk, when two children ran and knocked her down. “OH! I am sorry lady.” A young man said. “These kids are so reckless. Here let me help you up.”

The young man helped Xantara up, and when she looked it was her youngest son Shamuel. He did not recognize her. Xantara was surprised and overwhelmed, but did not say anything, took her wheeled box and left. Xantara did not want her son to see her the way she looks.

“Strange I feel like I know that woman.” Shamuel said. “I felt like something hit my chest.” The young man took the children’s hand and continued his journey.

Xantara was overwhelmed to see her son, and grandchildren she has never met. The next day, Xantara decided to walk past her old house to see how things were. She knew no one would recognize her. Walking near the house, she saw Sinbad, who had aged quickly, walking slowly toward his car.

“Hello lady, who are you?” A little boy said, “Are you lost?”

Xantara turned around and it was one of the children that made her fall on the street. “Hello young man.” Xantara replied. “No, I am just looking at that house. It reminds me of the one that I had. Do you live here?”

“Oh no!” The little boy replied. “This is my grandpa’s house. We are just visiting.”

Shamuel walked outside and when he saw Xantara with his son, he said. “Is he bothering you ma’m? Aren’t you the lady we met, the one my children knocked to the ground?”

Xantara looked down not wanting her son to recognize her and said. “Yes, I was wondering who lives here. I used to live around here at one time.”

“My father lives here.” Shamuel said.” He told us my mother left him and he met another lady who helped him out. We lived with my mother until we grew up, and when we went back to see her, she had left the apartment without telling anyone. Father helped my mother, and one day she just left taking us with her. We don’t remember much of what happened. Mother said we had to leave the house because it was infested with bugs.

Father also told us that he sent mother money for our education, and thanks to him we were able to get a good education and have a good life. I guess she did not love us enough when she disappeared.”

Xantara had to hold in her tears, her children forgot that it was her who took them to school, and their father was never round. They forgot that she had to clean houses and do odd jobs to support them, because she was suspended at her job for taking them with her. They all left her after they finished school and never returned. Xantara walked away not saying a word.”

“Wait lady!” Shamuel said. “Who are you? Do you need any help?”

“I am a nobody that you or anyone is concerned with.” Xantara said. “Good bye.” Xantara hurried off, before her son saw her tears, crossing the street without looking, all of a sudden a speeding truck was approaching and struck her. Xantara flew in the air and her body slammed against the floor. Shamuel called an ambulance and Xantara was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival. Xantara’s body was buried under the big willow tree that she had planted. Every day it was said that a weeping voice was heard at the same hour Xantara died.

Stay tuned for Chapter 6. The end is not always a happy one.

Xantara and the weeping Willow Tree-Chapters 3 and 4

Xantara and the Weeping Willow Tree
By Ruth M Garcia-Marmolejos

Chapters 3 and 4

Chapter 3
It continues

Xantara got older and sick, she could no longer work, she was back on the street, she was thrown out of the apartment, because a rich company had bought it and the building was demolished to make room for an office building.

Xantara found a wooden box with wheels and she uses it to put her belongings, she carries a picture of her children and wonders where they are.

Sinbad was very happy with the woman who had been his mistress for a long time. Sinbad and the woman had plotted to get Xantara out of the house. Sinbad had paid a lawyer to fake the papers; the woman was not the owner’s daughter. Everyone raved about how beautiful the house was, the beautiful job that Sinbad had done with it, and how intelligent and successful he was. There was no acknowledgement that it was Xantara who did it all, sending Sinbad to school and turning him into a successful man.

Xantara’s children were all successful, and they led a successful life, forgetting that it was their mother who helped them.

Chapter 4
The Weeping Willow tree
Xantara walked around the streets and sat on a rock near the yard of an old building, looking at the floor she found a young weeping willow tree. “Poor weeping willow baby.” Xantara said. “You have been abandoned just like me. I will take you out of there and plant you somewhere else where you can be seen.” Xantara continued to walk, carrying the small weeping willow tree. Xantara went inside the cemetery, and walked to the top of the hill. “ I will plant you here my Weeping Willow.” Xantara said. “For some day, I too will be buried here. I only hope to be buried under you so we can weep together. When our weeping stops, you will have beautiful blooming flowers that no one has ever seen before. That will mean that we have finally stopped weeping and will forever be happy .” Xantara planted the weeping willow , watered it and walked out of the cemetery.

What will happen next? Stay tuned for the next chapter.

Xantara and the Weeping Willow tree-Chapter 2

Xantara and the Weeping Willow Tree
By Ruth M Garcia-Marmolejos

Chapter 2
Xantara meets Sinbad

Xantara was in the living room cleaning, and she heard some one knocking on the door. Xantara opened the door, it was a young man. “I am looking for a job, as a gardener, or a handyman.” The young man said. “I am looking for jobs to feed myself and be able to pay my furnished room Ma’m.”

“Actually, I do need someone to take care of my garden and need some repairs done.” Xantara said. “But I cannot pay you much since I am new here and just started working.”

“I will accept anything you can afford to pay me “The young man said.

“Well, there is a small shack in the back.” Xantara said. “You can fix it, and live there rent free. That will be part of your salary.”

“That will be fine Ma’m.” The young man said. “I will be here early in the morning.”

“I will need to know your name young Mr.” Xantara said.

“My name is Sinbad.” The young man replied. “Bye”

The following morning Sinbad arrived early, Xantara showed him where the

shack was. Sinbad fixed the shack. Xantara bought some furniture for the shack.

“Sinbad, will you go to the hardware store and get me some materials I need for the bathroom?” Xantara asked. “I left the list on the kitchen counter for you to read and see if there is anything else that is need.”

Sinbad looked at Xantara and said with a shy voice. “Ma’m, I can’t read. My momma never let me go to school. My papa left her when I was a little boy and she never let me go nowhere. Momma got sick, died and I had to care for myself.”

Xantara sent Sinbad to school, where he learned to read and write. He became an architect and found employment in a big Corporation. Xantara and Sinbad fell in love, got married, and they had six beautiful children, three boys and three girls.

Everything was going good until one day; a woman appeared with a man, and a Police Officer. Xantara thought that something bad had happened to one of her children in school. To her surprise, the woman informed Xantara, that her father had died and, that she was the real owner of the house.

“It can’t be!” Xantara said. When I inquired at the Town all, I was told that the owner of the house died and had no heirs. I paid for the back taxes and they gave me the deed to the house.”

“My father forgot that he had a daughter, I did not know that he had died until recently.” The woman said. “The man with me is my lawyer; he can give you more details. I want my house empty by tomorrow morning.”

“I am not leaving this house.” Xantara said. “I am going to Town Hall to investigate all about this.”

“Madam, you have to leave today.” The woman said. “I have legal papers that say, that this is my house and if you do not leave, the Officer will force you to leave.”

“But I can’t leave now!” Xantara exclaimed. “I have nowhere to go and my children will be on the street. Give me a chance to find out, there has to be a mistake

somewhere. Give me time to get a place for my kids.”

The Police Officer approached Xantara and said. “Madam you have to leave now or I will force you to leave. I am sorry.”

Xantara took her clothes and her children’s clothes, she took whatever she could put it in the car, went to Town Hall, and was informed that all was true according to the woman’s legal papers.

Xantara then went to school to pick her children up. When she called Sinbad, he said he was not going with her. ”I do not want to live with you any more. I am going to live in the house with the woman who owns what used to be our house. I don’t love you any more.”

Xantara could not believe what was happening to her. That night Xantara and her children slept in a hotel. When the children asked about their dad, Xantara told them he was on a long vacation, and she also told them they had to move because the house had bugs.

Xantara found an apartment and when she went to get money for the rent and deposit, she found that her bank account was empty and her credit cards had been transferred in her husbands name only. The hotel manager felt sorry for her and let her stay at the hotel until she got paid. Xantara took her children to school then left them in

the lobby at her office until she got out of work.

Xantara then found another apartment and moved in with her children. One morning her boss informed Xantara, that people were complaining about her leaving her children in the lobby and told her she was suspended from work until she found a

solution.

Xantara could not find a baby sitter for six young kids, and had no money. Finally Xantara had to sell her car to be able to feed her children. Xantara began to do odd jobs like cleaning, taking care of old people, walking dogs, delivered newspapers to earn money. This was the only way that she was able earn money while her kids went to school.

Xantara taught her children to be good and had always found a way to give them what they needed. She left her career and all for her children. One by one Xantara’s children graduated from college and they either got married or left to live on their own.

What happens to Xantara next? Stay tuned for Chapter 3 coming soon!

XANTARA AND THE WEEPING WILLOW

Xantara and the Weeping Willow Tree
by Ruth M Garcia-Marmolejos

Chapter 1

How it began
Xantara was wandering in the street, homeless and hungry dressed in wrinkled jeans, an old worn red, sleeve blouse, worn out sandals. and messed up white hair, Carrying her only possessions in a wooden cart. Life had been hard, having no one to care for her. Remembering her children who had abandoned her, and everything she had build had been taken away from her.

It began when Xantara was a teenager, her parent’s died in their home. There was an explosion and the house burned down. Xantara found herself in the street for months. Walking along the street, Xantara saw an old broken house, the door was unlocked and she went inside the house. “Looks like this house has been abandoned.” Xantara said softly. “It is so big, it is a beautiful house once it is fixed. I think I will stay the night in here, I hope no one minds.” Xantara walked into one of the rooms, and fell asleep on the floor .Waking up early in the morning, Xantara walked outside to the yard. “My goodness this yard is huge.” Xantara said. “I wonder if this house has an owner!” There was an apple tree full of apples, and other fruit trees in the yard. It was an orchard. Xantara was so hungry she picked some fruits and ate them. “I wonder if the well in the back has any water.” Xantara said. Throwing the bucket hanging near the well, when Xantara pulled it up, there was water, and she drank, quenching her thirst.

Xantara found a broom, and mop in the kitchen, other cleaning utensils and cleaned the house a bit. “I think I will stay here until the owner or someone comes to tell me to move.” Xantara said, “I have no where else to go so there is nothing to lose. I have fruits to eat and water to drink. I can make a small fire and cook whatever vegetables I find in the garden. I will get a job and make good money. Then I will find a way to buy this house.”

Xantara cleaned herself, went to the nearby church where they had clothes for charity, got herself clothes and shoes, dressed presentable and applied for a job at a reputable Magazine company as a cleaning lady. When the receptionist read her resume, she referred Xantara to the executive office, where she was given the position as assistant to the executive editor. Before being thrown to the street, Xantara was in college, and loved writing, she had become editor of the college newspaper. Xantara had been given an internship at the hometown Newspaper, assisting the editor in chief. When her parents died, Xantara could not continue to go to college, she had no money to pay for it, and she also lost the internship. Now, with her new job, Xantara would be able to continue her career and buy the house.

Xantara went to the housing department and found out that the owner of the house had died, and the house was abandoned. The taxes had not been paid, so the government took over the house. No one bought it because the repairs were too expensive. Xantara, paid the taxes owed and was given the deed to the house. Xantara  paid for repairs on the house and the property, she had also bought new clothing, got her  driver’s license and bought a car.

Everyone admired the house and Xantara was happy, she was no longer homeless and had a good job.

What happens next? Find out in Chapter 2, when she meets Sinbad.

RIVER-PART I-Chapter 17-The Wedding- Part II

RIVER-PART II
By Ruth M Garcia-Marmolejos

Chapter 17
The Wedding part-II
Yurania Ylang and River recited their wedding vows, the ceremony was concluded and the bride and groom kissed. Everyone then went to the reception, being held at the big house, under a large tent in the garden. Everything had been decorated beautifully. Christmas flowers decorated the surroundings of the reception area. The bridal table was beautifully decorated with souvenirs, with glass bells, and glass bride and groom figurines dancing together, white glass balls hanging from the roof, white candles on top of the tables adorned with white Christmas flowers, and bright lights around the table. The cake was exquisite, a four tier cake with a bridge on top and a small gazebo holding the bride and groom dolls. The bridal party dolls were delicately placed on stairs leading to the bottom of the cake. The cake had glass pearls around it, and the guest tables had lights around the table covers. The entire guests were seated and the bridal music began. The bridal party entered and paraded to the tables, and the announcer introduced the Bridal couple who began to dance to the wedding waltz. Yurania Ylang’s parents then danced with the bride and groom, then Drone and Yamarah cut in to dance with the married couple. Everyone then began to dance, and were enjoying themselves.

Yurania Ylang and River were overwhelmed and happy to finally be married.
“I can’t believe that we are now husband and wife.” River said. “I remember the first time that I heard your voice Ylang, I felt a thump in my heart. When I regained my eyesight and did not see you, I thought that the world had crumbled beneath me. Now you are my wife.”

“Yes my loving husband.” Yurania Ylang said. “I remember you sitting on the bench every night. I fell in love with you when I saw you. I felt selfish when I found out that you were going to be able to see again. I thought that once you saw how fat I was, you would not want me. Our love is pure and clean. I am so glad that we are finally husband and wife. I love you so much.”

The music stopped, and Yurania Ylang walked to the platform where the musicians were, faced the musicians and threw the bridal bouquet over her head. One of the bridesmaids caught it. River then led Yurania Ylang to a chair where Yuraia Ylang sat down. One of the bridegrooms kneeled in front of Yurania Ylang, as Cachita put a blindfold on Yurania Ylang’s face. Once River knew that Yurania Ylang could not see, he switched places with the bridegroom. River proceeded to move his hands over Yurania Ylang’s leg to remove the garter from her leg. River started caressing Yurania Ylang’s thighs slowly as he took the garter off. Yurania Ylang thought that it was the bridegroom’s hand moved it away, and took off the blindfold. Everyone began to laugh when Yurania Ylang realized that it was River removing the garter.
River then faced the musicians and threw the garter over his head. One of the young men at the reception caught the garter and put it on the bridesmaid who had caught the bouquet as it is the custom. River and Yuraia Ylang cut a piece of the wedding cake and gave each other a piece. The souvenirs were handed out, and everyone toasted to the wedded couple.
River and Yurania Ylang changed clothes; it was time for them to go on their honeymoon. River and Yurania Ylang kissed their parents Good-bye, got on their car and left for their honeymoon. Everyone else continued to enjoy the reception.
All of a sudden, Brutus appeared growling, and the guests were frightened. “Do not be frightened.” Drone said. “That is my bear friend Brutus. What’s the matter Brutus? Why are you growling, interrupting, and frightening the guests?”
All of a sudden Brutus’s family began to run and Brutus followed them.
“Mommy, mommy look!” Rosina cried. “Look up in the sky, there’s fire!”
Cachita and everyone looked up and saw balls of flames in the sky. Everyone was terrified; Drone asked them all to be calm, but as the flames hit the ground the earth began to explode. Drone then realized that there was danger. He advised everyone to get in their cars and follow him. Paulie and Cachita carried their girls to the limousine, followed by Cachita’s parents, Paulie’s parents, Ian and his family followed, Yamarah and Yurania Ylang’s family went with Drone, and everyone else followed them.
“Where are we going Drone?” Yamarah asked. “What is going on?”
The homes and everything began to burn. Everything was dark.
There were cars exploding, people screaming and running from the flames. No one knew what was happening.
“I m going to lead everyone that we can into the cave.” Drone said. “This is either meteors falling from the sky or missiles being thrown. We have no time to waste; we must get out of here.”
Drone stopped in front of the cave and said. “Every one, please follow Paulie into the cave. Do not ask questions.
Paulie picked the torches and lit them, everyone followed them.
“Hurry, Paulie.” Drone said. “We must get as many of these people inside the cave before the entrance is sealed.”
Everyone ran as fast as they could. Ian and the other men made torches and lit them to light the way out of the cave. Everyone followed directions until they got to the other side of the cave. The fireballs kept falling, burning and destroying everything in the way. Drone knew that it would be minutes before the cave entrance would be sealed and ran inside the cave
“Drone, please help me!” Yamarah screamed.
Drone thought that Yamarah had already entered the cave. “Yamarah, is that you?” Drone asked. “Where are you?”
“I am here next too the entrance.” Yamarah cried. “I sprained my ankle and cannot walk.”
Drone went outside the cave and saw Yamarah. “Hold on, I’m coming to get you.” Drone screamed.
Drone ran to get Yamarah and a ball of fire fell in front of the cave. Drone picked Yamarah up, and carried her across the fire and into the cave. Just as Drone went into the cave, the rocks began to fall, sealing the entire entrance to the cave.
Ian and Andric had walked back to make sure that everyone was safe, saw when Drone ran inside the cave and the rocks sealed the entrance leaving many other people behind.
“Drone, Yamarah, are you alright?” Ian asked.
“My ankle sprained as I was running to get into the cave.” Yamarah replied.
“What were you still doing out there?” Drone asked. “I thought you were with Paulie.”
I was waiting to see if I would see River and Yuraia Ylang.” Yamarah replied.
“My God, my son is still out there! He is supposed to be going on his honeymoon and this horrible thing happens. I have lost my son!”
Yamarah began to cry inconsolably. Drone did not know what to say.
“What is happening?” Yamarah cried. “Where did those fireballs come from?”
“Let’s just continue to go to the other side my love.” Drone said.
Ian and Andric helped Drone to carry Yamarah. Brutus appeared and stood I front of them, licking Yamarah. Drone understood that Brutus wanted Yamarah to get on top of him so that he could carry her across the cave. The men helped Yamarah to get on top of Brutus and they continued to go across the cave.
Everyone had finally crossed the cave and were on the other side, waiting for Drone. Paulie’s parents had been right not to move to the city, they still had their house, where they, Paulie, Cachita, and the twins were able to live.
Drone and Yamarah then led the others to the big house that he had built next to their cabin. Those who had never been to the other side of the cave were surprised.
“I know that many of you are surprised to see this part of the country” Drone said “I I was surprised when I accidentally walked into the cave many years ago. I will explain all about it when we are all relaxed and settled. I do not know what has happened and am shocked. I am sorry for those of you who were unable to bring your loved ones. Our Son River and his wife Yurania Ylang were just married; they were on their way to their honeymoon. We do not know how they are. We do not know where those fireballs came from. Maybe it was a meteor that fell on earth or missiles thrown by enemies. Whatever it is, the cave entrance has been sealed and this will be our new home. You can all stay at the big house until we can build new homes and start our new world here. Now let us go inside the house, my staff will help all of you to get settled and tomorrow we will start building our new world.”
Everyone walked inside the house, and settled down for the night, wondering what had happened.
Did River and Yurania Ylang survive? Is this the end of the world on the other side of the cave? You shall find out when RIVER part III, continues.

Chapter 16
The Wedding part-I

Everyone continued to look for the children, and could not find them. Finally everyone went back to the house.

“Where could those children be?” Andric said. “Who could have taken them and why?”

“My baby, where is my baby?” Cachita cried. “This cannot be happening, Pamela where could our babies be? Rosina was near the tree moments before Santa Claus left, maybe she hid in Santa’s sleigh and he doesn’t know.”

“You are forgetting one thing.” Yamarah said. “It can’t be, Santa Claus would have found her by now and let us know. Furthermore Baby Paulie Tanner cannot walk.”

“Let’s go look again.” Drone said, “Maybe the kidnapper is hiding and waiting for us to stop looking so he can get out of the property with the children.”

The men went back outside to look around again. They searched the stables, the garages, the orchards, around the trees, the garden, around the pond, around the pool area, and inside the house. They even looked outside the property, but no one could be found.

“Strange that I have not seen Brutus.” Drone said. ‘I looked around and couldn’t see him either.”

The men walked back inside and when Pamela and Cachita did not see them with the children they began to cry. Jon put his arms around Pamela and said. “ Don’t give up hope my dear, we will find them.”

Paulie hugged Cachita and said. “Jon is right we will find our children.”

“Why is Mommy and Auntie Cachita crying.” Rosina said.

Everyone turned around and saw Rosina standing in front of the living room door.

Jon ran to hug his little girl, picked her up and asked. “Rosina, where have you been? We have been looking for your for hours.”

Pamela ran to hug her little girl. “Mommy why are you crying?” Rosina asked. “I was outside with the baby in the little crib.”

“Is it the Baby Jesus in the crib?” Drone asked.

“ No. it’s the real baby.“ Rosina replied. “I put my baby doll in one of the little crib that was in the room while Santa was here, then took the real baby to the little box outside and put the baby Jesus doll on the hay. I put the blanket over the real baby and he fell asleep. Brutus is taking care of him right now.”

Everyone ran to the Christmas manger and Paulie Tanner was sleeping peacefully in the Nativity crib. Brutus was laying beside the crib, protecting the baby. It was a beautiful sight to be seen.

Cachita was overwhelmed and glad to see that her baby was safe, and gently picked him up and hugged him. “I thank God the my baby is safe.” Cachita said.

Everyone went back inside the house and Drone said. “I was wondering about Brutus. I knew that Brutus would let no stranger in the house.”

“How and why did you carry the baby outside?” Pamela asked.

“The baby doll is heavier than the real baby.” Rosina said. “I wanted to see how a real baby would look in the little crib. I took the baby Jesus doll put it on the hay under the crib and put the real baby in his place. Then I sat down to watch him and fell asleep on Brutus. When I woke up, I saw the baby still sleeping and didn’t want to wake him up so I told Brutus to watch him, and came here. I was going to go back to get him.’

“Don’t you ever do that again young lady.” Jon said. “We were scared and went out looking for you, we thought someone had taken you and the baby away. Do not ever go out by yourself or pick up the babies.”

“I’m sorry Daddy.” Rosina cried. “ I didn’t mean to scare you. I won’t do it again. Can I still play with my baby doll?”

“Yes you can play with your baby doll.” Jon said. “I’m so sorry Paulie and Cachita, we have had such a scaring ordeal.”

“Don’t worry Jon.” Cachita said. “Our children are safe and that’s the important thing. Rosina didn’t mean to scare us, she’s a baby herself.”

“Let us all continue to celebrate. Yamarah said. “This has been a Christmas Miracle. There are a lot of gifts under the Christmas tree to be unwrapped.

The gifts were unwrapped, everyone celebrated then went home to prepare for the Christmas wedding.

The following day Yurania Ylang got up excited, knowing that this was her wedding day.. Yurania Ylang’s mother helped her daughter get dressed, something borrowed was the wedding dress that Yurania Ylang’s mother had saved for her first daughter’s wedding. The gown was simple but elegant, it was made of white organza, it had red delicate sequins embroidered around the strapless top, on the front bodice, and around the bottom edge of the skirt. On top of her head, Yurania Ylang wore a tiara with red and white diamond crystal jewels, draped with a white floral appliquĂ© and sequin embroidered, tulle cathedral veil.

There was a knock on the door. “Come in.” Yurania Ylang said.

It was Yamarah. “You look beautiful.” Yamarah said. “I came to bring you something old.” Yamarah had a blue jewel box in her hand, opened it , and took out a necklace and a pair of earring that matched Yurania Ylang’s dress. “I have had these in my possession since my wedding.” Yamarah said. “I did not put them on because Drone had bought me a set he wanted me to wear. I saved them for my future daughter-in-law, to wear at her wedding. I also bought you a small present, here open it!”

Yurania Ylang opened the small box and in it was a beautiful white silk handkerchief with lace around it.. “It’s beautiful, thank you.” Yurania Ylang said. “OK. I have something old, something new, something borrowed, and my blue garter is something blue.

The bouquet is a Silk Bridal Cascade Bouquet with two big white poinsettias, two big red poinsettias, two small white and two small red poinsettias, they are accented by green hydrangea, golden leaves, pine boughs with mini-pinecones, and a delicate beaded garland . Fluffy loops of red satin ribbon accent the bouquet and adorn the white satin hand-wrapped stems.

The bridesmaids were waiting downstairs in the living room, wearing long red chiffon dresses with a white sash around the waist and a big bow on the back. A White and red glittered poinsettia adorned the side of their heads. The bridesmaids carried two Red and white poinsettias adorned with a silk red ribbon, and mini-pinecones delicately cascading down. Cachita the Matron of honor. wore a long Red chiffon dress with white pearls embedded around the V-neckline and down the front on each side. A red glittered poinsettia adorned the side of Cachita’s head, as she carried a bouquet made of four red and white poinsettias adorned with a silk white ribbons, small mini-pinecones, and rhinestones. Rosina the flower girl carries a delicate white basket adorned with red silk ribbons and Christmas flowers. Dark red rose petals are in the basket. Rosina wore a Soft red fabric lined in plush red satin bodice, a layered chiffon skirt also lined in satin, a red ribbon around the waist, and red fluffy feathers adorned her head.

The bridegrooms wore a black tuxedo with a red sash on their waist and a small red poinsettia boutonniere. The best man Paulie, wore a black tuxedo with a white sash, and a white poinsettia boutonniere.

River was waiting for his bride at the cathedral, he wore a white tuxedo with a red sash and a red and white poinsettia boutonniere. Paulie was accompanying River.

“My dear friend, today you finally marry the love of your life.” Paulie said.

“Yes my dear friend.” River said. “The beginning of a new life for me. I must admit that I am a bit nervous, but never the less happy.”

The doors to the cathedral opened, the guests and families were escorted to their seats. and the wedding procession began. Jon and Yamarah escorted River to the altar, then sat down to accompany their spouses Pamela and Drone, the bridesmaids followed accompanied by their bridegrooms, following were, the Matron of Honor Cachita, the ring bearer, and the flower girl Rosina who was enjoying throwing the flower buds. The Bridal wedding march began, and everyone stood up. The bride, Yurania Ylang began walking, accompanied by her, mother and father. Yurania Ylang was overwhelmed and felt as if she was walking on air.

Finally reaching the altar, River approached his bride to be. Yurania Ylang’s father moved the veil away from the bride’s face, kissed her on her forehead, handed her to the groom, then sat down together with his wife. River and Yurania Ylang walked toward the priest and kneeled down on the kneeler in front of the priest to honor God. The priest then commenced the ceremony. Yamarah was very proud of her son, she was glad that after all that River had gone through, he finally found happiness.

Stay tuned for Chapter 17 for the conclusion of River and Yurania Ylang’s wedding.

RIVER-PART II-Chapter 15- Santa Claus Arrives

RIVER-PART II
By Ruth M Garcia-Marmolejos

Chapter 15
Santa Claus Arrives

Cachita and Paulie finally decided to name their twins, Paulie Tanner and Andrica Deidre. Everyone was happy with the names.
Christmas was approaching and so was River and Ylang’s wedding. The big house was beautifully decorated. There was a giant Christmas tree in the front with a big replica of the Manger where Jesus was born, inside were statues of the Holy Family and the three kings. The animal figures were placed near the manger and a big Star adorned the top of the manger. Christmas light were blinking around the house and property. There was a sleigh with Santa and the reindeers, Frosty the snowman, and the frozen pond with skaters and Carolers. Christmas Eve everyone got together at the big house for the wedding rehearsal then the Pre-Wedding dinner.

Jon and Pamela’s daughter Rosina is 2 years old and is a big girl who enjoys walking around the house. Cachita did not want to leave the twins upstairs and asked the Nanny to take the babies to the study where they could be near her. One of the butlers carried the bassinets to the study, the Nanny put the babies in them, and sat down to watch them.

The bride and groom to-be, the bridal party, the parents and the minister went into the ballroom in the house, and practiced the ceremony. Rosina is the flower girl, and loves throwing flowers on the floor. River and Yurania Ylang have their wedding vows ready, but want to wait for the real ceremony. The Wedding ceremony will take place at the Cathedral in the City. The reception is going to be in the ball room at the big house. After the rehearsal everyone returned to the house. Dinner was served, everyone sat down and enjoyed themselves.

“Tomorrow my son will be a married man.” Yamarah said. “Years ago, I would have never imagined that my little blind boy would regain his eyesight and become a Doctor. I am very proud of you River. I am glad that you found your soul mate and a wonderful woman. Yurania Ylang, I welcome you and your family to our family. Thank you, everyone that has contributed to this wonderful night. I want to especially thank you, my wonderful husband Drone for saving my son’s life in the mountains, helping my son get his eyesight back, getting his education, and everything that you have done for us. I also want to thank Ian for risking his life and leaving his family to rescue us. Let us lift up our cups and make a toast to family love.”

“ Everyone lifted their cups and said. “Salud hear, hear!”

Drone then got up and said. “I too will toast to the most amazing woman that I have ever known, my wife Yamarah. I fell in love with her the first time that I saw her, waited patiently until the day that I proposed to her and she accepted. Everything that I have done is for love, for I love River like he was my biological son, and I thank Ian for sharing his son with me. I salute you Yamarah my beautiful wife.”

Again everyone lifted their cups and said. “Hear, hear! “

“Now let us go to the living room and continue celebrating.” Drone continued saying. “Tonight is also Christmas Eve, and I want to give out the presents before the bride and bridegroom-to-be leave tomorrow to their honeymoon.”

Everyone went to the living room and began to sing Christmas Carols, drank Eggnog, and apple cider. Everyone was having wonderful time, the clock started to chime it was midnight. Sleigh bells started to ring outside, and they all ran outside. It was snowing, and there was an empty sleigh with Rudolph and the other reindeers. Santa Claus went down the chimney and was in the living room shouting “HO! HO! HO! Merry Christmas. Where are the children? I heard that there were children here this year.” Rosina had seen Santa Claus get out of the chimney and said. “Are you really Santa Claus?”

“Yes little one, and I have a present for you.” Santa said giving Rosina a big gift

box.

Rosina unwrapped the gift, opened the box and it was a big baby doll. “Mommy, Daddy look.” Rosina said with a big smile. “I have a big baby.”

“That baby is as big as the twins. Ha, ha, ha..’ Jon said. “ Do you think that you can carry it?”

“Oh yes I can.” Rosina answered. “I can even give her the bottle.”

“Here are gifts for the twins.” Santa said. “I have to go now. But I am using the door this time.” Santa walked outside, got on the sleigh waved good-by and shouted. “HO! HO! HO!” Merry Christmas.”

Cachita and Paaulie went to the study to get the twins, Cachita picked up Andrica, but when Paulie went to pick up Paulie Tanner, he was not in the bassinette.

“Maybe the Nanny has him.” Cachita said.

The Nanny had ran out to see Santa Claus, and when she returned to the study Paulie did not see the baby in her arms and asked, “Where is my son?”

The Nanny was surprised, and replied. “I left him in the bassinette. I went out for a moment to watch Santa Claus. I thought that he would be safe here.”

“Where is my baby?” Cachita asked.

“Let’s not panic!” Paulie said. “Maybe the baby was crying and one of the adults took him.”

Paulie and Cachita walked out to the living room. “Did any of you take our son out of his bassinette?” Paulie asked. “We did not find him there.”

Everyone looked at each other , bewildered. “Where can the child be?” Andric asked. “Let’s look at the upstairs rooms.”

“My baby has been kidnapped!” Cachita cried. “Who would want to kidnap my baby?’

“Call the police!” Yurania Ylang said.

“Let’s not panic.” Drone said. “The kidnapper could not have gone far, Brutus is in the area. I brought Brutus with me so he too could enjoy the festivities. I am sure Brutus would not let strangers come into the property. I will have the staff look around the house, we can all spread outside and look around. The women stay here until we come back.”

“My baby, who kidnapped my baby?” Cachita cried.

Pamela looked around and did not see Rosina. “Jon is Rosina with you?” Pamela asked.

“No she is not.” Jon replied. “She must be around the house playing with her doll. Let me go find her.”

Jon went to look for Rosina, but could not find her. Pamela began to worry., and cried. “Oh my God! Where is my little girl. Has anyone seen Rosina?

Jon began to call Rosina and told everyone else that she too had disappeared. One of the maids walked into the room, she was carrying Rosina’s Baby doll, and scared said “I found this on the baby boy’s bassinette.”

“My little girl too has been kidnapped.” Cried Pamela frantically. “What is going on? It’s Christmas, why would anyone kidnap our children.”

Everyone except Cachita, who held her baby girl in her arms, Pamela’s mother and Paulie’s mother went to search for the missing children. The police were called, no one could find the children.

“Don’t worry they will be found.” Yurania Ylang said. “I too am going to look for them.” Yurania Ylang walked outside to look for the children.

“What if someone took them away?” Cachita cried. “I am so scared that I will never see my baby boy again.”

“Cachita don’t talk like that.” Pamela said. “I can’t bear to lose my little girl. Oh Mother where are they?”

Pamela’s mother hugged her daughter and said. “Don’t worry my daughter the children will be found, have faith.”

Emma Hugged Cachita and said. “Jon and the men will find them, don’t give up hope.”

Drone couldn’t understand how the children disappeared. “I know that Brutus would not let strangers get in the property.” Drone said. “Where can they be and who would kidnap them unless it is someone we know, but who and why?”

The police arrived and Paulie gave them the information. “Do you have pictures of the little girl and the infant?” One of the officers asked. “ I hate to say this, but in order for us look for them, they have to be missing for 24 hours.”

“What?’ Cachita and Pamela both screamed.

“I’m sorry ladies, I know it sound and is cruel, but it’s the law.”

“It’s alright officer I understand the dumb law.” Drone said. “I have my men and my own search party. We will find them and the kidnapper.”

The officers reluctantly left. “Let’s continue to look for the Children.” Drone said.

What happened to the children, were they kidnapped? Will this be a sad Christmas? Will there be a wedding? Stay tune for Chapter 16.

RIVER PART II-Chapter 14-Cachita gives birth

RIVER-PART II
By Ruth M Garcia-Marmolejos

Chapter 14

Cachita gives birth

Cachita was afraid to move. “Hurry, call an ambulance.” Paulie said. Paulie carried Cachita and put her on the sofa. “OK, now what do we do? “ Paulie said. “Umm hold on Cachita wait for the ambulance, let’s get going? Hold the baby in Cachita!” Paulie was running back and forth acting like a maniac.

“What do you mean hold the baby in Paulie?” Cachita asked. “Owww, will someone do something? Paulie you are not making any sense. Take it easy.”

“I already called the Ambulance River said.” Just relax, breathe. Everything is going to be OK.’

“Ohhh, owww! How do I relax?” Cachita screamed. “These pains are bad. There are two doctors here and no one does anything. “Will one of you check me out! I feel the baby coming out!”

“I am an eye Doctor River said. “ I do not deliver babies.”

“Me too!” Yurania Ylang said.

“I know that they taught you both how to deliver babies when you started your training.” Cachita said. “One of you or someone had better help me!”

“Carry Cachita to her room. Yurania Ylang said. I will take care of her.”

Paulie’s mother said. “I will help you; I am a midwife, in the excitement I forgot to mention it.”

Paulie carried Cachita to her room, and when Yurania Ylang and Paulie’s mother looked, the baby’s head was out. Paulie’s mother delivered the baby. It was a baby boy. Everyone was happy! The ambulance arrived at that moment and when they went to pick Cachita up to take her to the hospital, Cachita cried. “O h my God I have more pain. Something is wrong I feel like pushing and some thing is coming out!”

One of the Paramedics examined Cachita and said. “There’s a baby’s head you are having another baby! The paramedic delivered the second baby, it was a girl.

“What!” Cachita exclaimed. “The doctor never said that I was having twins. Paulie we have two babies. They are beautiful.”

Paulie was overwhelmed and said. “I have two babies, wow! I am a father of two. Andric you have two grandchildren. Father, mother delivered her own grandson.

Everyone was very happy. The Paramedics took Cachita and the infants to the hospital. When the Doctor arrived, he said. “One baby was hiding behind the other and that’s why we only saw one. Both babies have been examined and they are fine.”

“Now we have to find a name for the babies.” Cachita said. “I know that our boy will be named after his father, but we want a middle name for him, now we have to look for a name for our daughter.

“What a wonderful Thanksgiving this has been after all.” Yamara said. “Let’s all go back to the big house and celebrate Thanksgiving. We can leave the new parents to enjoy their newborns.”

Everyone went back to the big house to finish celebrating Thanksgiving.

The following day Drone, Yamarah, Paulie‘s parents and River‘s grandparents went home.

“This has been a very interesting Thanksgiving.” Yamarah said. “Yurnia Ylang and Cachita disappeared and thanks God were found safe by Tanner. Then Cachita gives birth to unexpected twins. I wonder what else is going t happen.”

“Don’t forget that your son is getting married soon.” Drone said. “They have to finish building their house soon before the wedding. Have you thought about what gift we are giving them for the wedding?”

“Now that you mention it.” Yamarah said. “I don’t have any ideas. We can give them a gift card so the can go wherever they want for their honeymoon. We can buy the furniture for their house.”

“Why don’t we find out what they want or need?” Drone asked. “Maybe they have something in mind.

“You are right.” Yamarah said. “We will ask them the next time we see them.”

Cachita and her babies were discharged, and when they arrived to the house, they had a surprise. Andric had bought another crib and everything double for the twins.

“How beautiful everything is.” Cachita said. “These babies are going to be spoiled rotten by their grandparents. I just thought of something. Can we take the babies to visit your parents Paulie?”

“We have to ask Drone about that.” Paulie said.” Maybe we can, after all they are our children and I was born on the other side of the cave.”

Paulie, I am going to ask you something.” Cachita said. “Can we move to our own place? Like an apartment or buy a house?”

“Yes we can.” Paulie replied. “But why would you want to move? Drone gave the house to your Father and us. We have our careers and someone to take care of our children. Andric has no one and I am sure it would hurt him if we took his grandchildren away. If we move out, we will need a baby sitter; we are hardly ever at home because of our work. However, if you want to move, we can start looking for a place. I want you to be happy my love.

“You are right.” Cachita said. “We do have everything we need here. Father has no more family than us, and will be hurt if we take the children away. We will stay and let father enjoy his grandchildren. I am going back to work in two weeks.”

River and Yurania Ylang pursued their wedding plans and their house was almost finished. They continued their work at the hospital and the office. Paulie and Cachita invited River and Yurania Ylang for dinner one Evening at a restaurant near the hospital’

River, Yurania, we have a question for both of you.” Paulie said. “Will you be our children’s Godparents?”

“It will be an honor.” River said. When do you want the babies baptized? Have you given them a name?”

“Not yet.” Paulie replied. “Cachita can’t make up her mind. We have to give them a name before we baptize them.”

“Well you better hurry.” Yurania Ylang said. “They need a name. What do you call them now?”

“Actually we do not call them anything.” Cachita said. “We just call them sweetheart, darling and other sweet things. I know, we can get together and suggest names. I don’t want just any names. The boy’s first name will be Paulie like his father, but we want a middle name.”

“Andrica sounds nice for the baby girl.” River said. “I am sure that your father will love it.”

“That sounds beautiful. Yurania Ylang said. “Don’t you like it Cachita?”

“Andrica sounds beautiful.” Cachita said.

“I like it.” Paulie said. “OK, now we have to look for middle names.”

“How is the house coming along? “ Cachita asked. “Have you registered in any stores for your wedding gifts? The wedding is at Christmas.” Father is having a great time babysitting the twins. This is the first night that I have gone out since I gave birth to the twins.”

The house is almost finished.” River said. “All it needs are the small finishing touches. The pool deck and landscaping is now being done. Paulie did a wonderful job with the architecture. Dad and Jon have been helping out quite a lot.”

“I sent out the invitations.” Yurania Ylang said.” I also wrote a list of the stores that I registered on the invitations. I finally bought the dress and bridal attire. You have to go get your dress and Matron of honor attire Cachita. I am sure that everything will fit you. Everything has been ordered, the flowers, the cake and the souvenirs. Mother and Yamarah will take care of the rest.”

“Where are you going for your honeymoon?” Cachita asked.

“We have not decided yet.” Yurania Ylang replied. We might ask Drone to let us use his yacht and just goon an adventure.”

“Please do not disappear like Drone and Yamarah did.” Paulie said. “I don’t feel like hunting for you guys too. That was some voyage we had, what an experience. Even though I would love to go adventure again, but now we have the twins to worry about.

“Ha ha ha! No Paulie.” River said. “We have no intentions of going back there again. I don’t think that Ylang would survive it.”

“What do you mean me not surviving?” Yurania Ylang asked. “I would love to go on an adventure. I have never been anywhere; it would be fun to do and go somewhere new.”

“You are right Ylang.” River said. “I believe you, after I found out that you were trying to find the cave. Then you and Cachita going to buy a pie, knowing that there was a hurricane approaching. That is not only being brave, but crazy too.”

What adventure follows River? You will have to wait for future chapters.

Readers, if you have any suggestions for the name of the twins. Post them here,  on my website, or Facebook. You will read the names on the next chapter. Stay tuned for Chapter 15.

RIVER-PART II-Chapter 13-Yurania Ylang and Cachita Disappear

RIVER-PART II
By Ruth M Garcia-Marmolejos

Chapter 13
Yurania Ylang and Cachita disappear

River and Paulie continued their search but could not find the women. “Do you think that maybe they got into trouble and found the cave entrance?” Paulie asked.
“It’s possible.” River replied. “Let’s call home, maybe they got there.”
Paulie called home but Andric said they did not get home yet,
“We better go to the cave.” River said. “They might be there, let’s hope that the water receded.”
The water near the cave had receded, “I see no sign of the tow truck. “River said. River and Paulie found the cave entrance went to the other side and looked around. “Let’s go to grandmother’s house.” River said. “Maybe they are there.
River and Paulie went to Marcela and Nano’s house. “Paulie, what are you and Riverdoing here?” Marcela asked. “Why are you not with Cachita? Isn’t she due any day now?”
“Grandmother we came to see if she and Ylang were here,” River said.
“What do you mean?” Marcella asked. “You know that any one that has never been here is not allowed to enter the cave unless it is an emergency. Yurania Ylang and Cachita have never been here.”
“Cachita and Yurania are missing” Paulie said. “They went to buy some pastries and a pie at Geneva’s Bakery and when they went to start the car it did not turn on.” Paulie explained what had happened with the tow truck driver and the women. “We thought that maybe they got caught in the flood and the cave opened up to save them. We are going to Mother’s house maybe they are there.”
“You may be right.” Marcela said. “Go see if you can find them and come back to let us know.”
“I will go to my parent’s house.” Paulie said. “If they are there I will go and let you know. “
Paulie went to his parent’s home, but they were not there. Paulie then went to the big mansion near Drone and Yamarah’s cabin. Neither the women nor the tow truck man were there. “I hope the women are at Drone and Yamarah’s cabin.” Paulie said.
When Paulie arrived at Drone and Yamarah’s cabin, Yurania Ylang, Cachita and the tow truck man were not there. “Where can they be?” Paulie asked. “I hope nothing has happened to them.”
“Let’s go home.” River said. “Maybe they got home by now. If not, we will continue to look for them.”
“I will go with you.” Drone said. “I will get my staff to help us look for them.
“I will go with you too.” Yamarah said.
“My parents are going too.” Paulie said. “They are worried about them too.”
Everyone got together at the cave entrance and when they were out of the cave, they saw all the damage that the storm had once more caused.
When they got to the big house, nothing but small trees and bushes were damaged. The women were not there. Drone got all of his staff to go look for Cachita, Yurania, Ylang and the tow truck driver. Everyone looked all day and they were no where to be found. “We can’t even find the tow truck.” River said.
Everyone went to the big house. “What a Thanksgiving day we will have this year.” Paulie said. “My wife and unborn child are missing, and so is my best friend. What could have happened to them? Where can they be?”
Sadness was felt all over the room. Tears were flowing down Paulie and Andric’s eyes. “It’s like the earth swallowed them.” River said.
A car was heard outside. “Maybe that’s them.” Paulie said. “Maybe they found a way to come back.”
When everyone went to find out who had arrived, it was Yurania Ylang’s parents.
“Where is my daughter?” Yurania Ylang’s mother asked. “We received message on the phone that my daughter is missing.”
River explained everything that had happened. “We will not give up looking for them.” River said. “Cachita is due to give birth at any moment. We have to find them.”
The police then arrived. “Did you find them? “ Paulie asked.
“We found the tow truck.” One of the officers said. “It was in the woods covered with a big tree that had fallen on it. There was no one there. We will keep on searching until we find them.”
Drone then decided to go back to the cave. “I am going back to the cave.” Drone said. “I am the keeper of the cave, and if they entered the cave without being invited they may be stuck in there or the cave has been sealed forever. Maybe it did not close on the other side when we came here because I am the keeper. I will be back.”
Drone went to the cave, and found the entrance quickly, which meant that no one went into the cave without being invited. There was no one in the cave. Drone looked on the other side of the cave to see if maybe he could find Yurania Ylang, Cachita and the tow man, near the river, but found no one. Drone then went back to let everyone know that he could not find them.
“Where can they be?” Yamarah asked.
“Sir, I know this may not be a good time.” One of the maids said to Drone. “All of you need to eat something. May I serve the dinner?”
Drone looked at everyone and said. “We do need to eat to keep our strength. Yes you may serve dinner.”
Everyone sat down, and Drone said. “Instead of giving thanks, let’s pray that we find Cachita, Yurania Ylang and the Tow man safe.”
Andric, Paulie, River and Yurania Ylang’s parents could not eat. There was silence and sadness all around the room.
“Why is everyone so sad?” Everyone looked at the dining room entrance, and Cachita, Yurania Ylang and the Tow man were standing there.
“I am asking again. Why is everyone so sad? Cachita asked. “It’s Thanksgiving.”
Paulie got up and ran to hug Cachita, River hugged Yurania Ylang, and everyone felt as if the light had just turned on.
“Where have all of you been?” Andric asked. “We have been worried about you. We have looked everywhere for you and could not find you. The Police found the tow truck under a fallen tree.”
“It’s a long story.” Yurania Ylang said. “This is Tanner the Tow man and our savior who saved our lives. After the tree fell on the tow truck, we saw a big water current coming toward us. Tanner took us to a cave that led to a small place on the other side.”
“How did you find the cave Tanner?” Drone asked. “Where is the cave?”
“I am from the other side of the cave.” Tanner said. “My parents were saved when one of the storms hit and destroyed our village. As you know these mysterious storms appear every year around that place. I also know that unless it is an emergency to save a life no one is allowed to enter the cave that has never been there. We also know that the entrance will not be seen unless it is either by someone who has lived on the other side of the cave or if it s an emergency. When I saw the water rushing down with a lot of debris, I also saw the cave entrance appear. I then knew that it was alright and took the ladies to the cave. The ladies were with me in my house eating and resting until the storm was over. Mr. Drone, I am the son of the man who lives in the small house near the river behind the mountains. I am the boy that you saved from drowning in the river. My mother died a couple of years ago. She died of a heart attack. I then brought the ladies home because I knew that their families were worried about them. I also knew that Cachita wanted to have her child near her family.”
“Thank you for saving them.” Drone said. I remember you and your parents when they arrived on the other side of the mountain.”
“Will you stay and have Thanksgiving dinner with us Tanner?” Yamarah asked. “Do you have any plans for tonight?”
“I have no plans.” Tanner replied. “I have to work early in the morning, so I do not have to go home. I will be glad to have dinner.”
“Every one was having dinner and Cachita said. “Paulie I have a confession to make. I hope that you and the others will forgive me for betraying your trust.”
“What is it Cachita?” Paulie asked.
“The other day Yurania and I followed father when he went to pick up Drone and Yamarah. We wanted to know where the entrance to the cave was. Not that we intended to enter the cave, but we were curious and wanted to know.”
“Why, did you do that?” Andric said. “We have told you what would happen if you entered the cave.”
“Please do not blame Cachita. “ Yurania Ylang said. “It was my idea. Cachita was hesitant to go, but I convinced her. I parked a block behind to watch when Drone and Yamarah came out, but we did not see them come out of the cave. The following day we went to see if we could find the entrance but we could not find it. We then decided to wait until Drone and Yamarah came and went back to follow them again and try to find the entrance to the cave. Please forgive me too River, I understand if you do not ever trust me again but I promise you that will I try hard to regain your trust.”
“Well you found it the hard way.” River said. “You both would have been killed in the storm had Tanner not been there. I forgive you Yurania.”
“I forgive you too.” Paulie said. “I forgive both of you.”
“OK, let us now give thanks.” Drone said. “We have much to be thankful for. Then we eat. I am starving.”
“Ut oh! I think someone wants to celebrate Thanksgiving with us tonight.” Cachita said. “OH God, I am going to the bathroom.”
Cachita got up to go to the bathroom and all of a sudden she cried. “Owww! It hurts, I can’t walk, my water broke, the baby, I feel the baby coming out!
Will Cachita give birth on Thanksgiving? Does she have time to go to the hospital? Tune in and find out in Chapter 14.

RIVER-PART II-Chapter 12-Another storm

RIVER-PART II
By Ruth M Garcia-Marmolejos

Chapter 12
Another storm

Yurania Ylang’s curiosity became stronger, she was now more eager to find out about the Cave and what really is on the other side of the cave. “I will find out one way or another,” Yurania Ylang said softly. “It may cause trouble for River and others, but I will find out. I know River will forgive me. I will just follow Yamarah and Drone when they go back, the next time they come back here.”
River and Yurania Ylang’s house and wedding plans began to unfold. Everything was running on schedule, Thanksgiving was approaching and Cachita’s delivery date was near. Cachita invited Yurania Ylang to go shopping for last minute thanksgiving food cravings. “I have this craving for a pumpkin pie that only Genova’s bakery has, and the store is near the street where we saw Drone park the other day. I noticed it while we were walking trying to find the cave entrance. Please go with me Yurania.”
“Cachita, are you sure?” Yurania Ylang asked. “There is a storm warning, and you are due to give birth at any moment.”
“I am sure.” Cachita said. “The storm is not due until tonight; I have a lot of time until I give birth. Labor takes a long time. I do want to eat the potato pie, we can go buy it and return home fast.”
“OK, let’s go to the bakery, get your pumpkin pie and go home.” Yurania Ylang said. “Do you remember where the bakery is?”
“Yes, I remember where the bakery is. “ Cachita said. “Drive me to where we saw Drone, I will tell you where the bakery is.”
Yurania Ylang drove to where she had seen Drone. “There is it.” Cachita said. “Park the car and I will go in and get the pie”
“I will go in with you.” Yurania Ylang said. “I will buy one for me and buy other pastries.”
Yurania Ylang and Cachita went into the bakery bought the pie and other pastries.
“Ladies I am going to close up soon.” The owner of the bakery said. “The storms around here are very dangerous, especially down the road. We have had many floods and the mudslides are very dangerous. You had better hurry and get out of here before it starts raining and the flood covers the roads.”
Yurania Ylang and Cachita hurried to get into the car. The car stalled and would not turn on. “Oh no! This can’t be happening.” Yurania Ylang said. “No matter how much I try, the car won’t turn on. Let me call the Auto club, they will come and help.” Yurania Ylang called the Auto club and they said they were going to get there as soon as possible.
A few moments later a tow truck from the car club arrived. They could not turn the car on, so the man from the Auto club towed them to the nearest garage. All of a sudden the wind began to get so strong that it made the ground tremble. The tow truck driver from the Auto club company, told the ladies to get into the tow truck so he could get them out of there and out of danger. Yurania Ylang and Cachita climbed into the tow truck, and the man drove away trying to find a safe place.
“Oh no, now we are in big trouble.” The tow truck man said. “It has started to rain and that will cause a flood. I will try and get to the other side of town. Maybe we can get away from the flood.”
The rain got harder, thunder roared and lightning bolts lit up the sky. The wind became stronger; all of a sudden lightning hit a big tree missing the front of the tow truck. The driver had to detour through another street. It began to get dark; the rain was so strong that the driver could not see where he was going.
“I should have listened to you Yurania.” Cachita said. “The storm got here earlier, we are in big trouble. How are we going to get home?”
“It’s OK Cachita.” Yurania Ylang said. “Do not worry we will get out of this, we will get home safe.”
“Ladies we are in real trouble now.” The tow truck driver said. “The road to the main highway is closed. We will have to go through the forest, let’s hope the river is not flooded yet.”
“I will call River.” Yurania Ylang said. “Maybe he and Paulie can find us.”
Yurania Ylang called River and told him what had happened. “Where are you now?” River asked. ’I will see if we can go get you.”
“We are somewhere in the forest.” Yurania Ylang said. “We were near the mall getting a pie at Genova’s bakery, then the car stalled and we called the Auto club. When the tow truck man towed us to a garage the storm started. The tow truck man helped us get into his tow truck and the roads got bad so he had to drive into the forest. Hello! Hello! The phone went dead. Now what do we do?”
River called Paulie and told him what had happened to the girls. “I could not get the directions to where they are.” River said. “ Ylang’s phone went dead. All Ylang said was that they had to go into the forest.”
“I am worried River.” Paulie said. “Cachita is due any day now, and these storms are very dangerous. They are far from the cave entrance, they may be in danger if there is a flood. What are we going to do? They need help.”
“We can’t call Drone.” Paulie said. “One of us is going to have to go to the cave and let Drone and everyone else know what happened.”
Cachita and Yurania Ylang cannot enter the cave unless they are in danger.” River said. “They do not know where the entrance to the cave is any way. I am going to call Ian. He can go and tell Drone what is going on. You and I can go look for the girls.”
River called Ian who agreed to go talk to Drone .Paulie used his jeep and drove Ian to the cave entrance, but before he got there, the streets were flooded and there was no way for them to drive through. “Go look for the girls.” Ian said. “I will look for a way to get to the cave entrance.”
The wind got stronger and everything got darker. River and Paulie took big flashlights with them. Paulie drove into the forest; they looked around but saw no sight of the tow truck or the girls. “We cannot give up.” Paulie said. “We have to find them.”
The storm got worse and the girls could not be found. “Where can they be?” Paulie asked. “I Hope they were not washed up by the flood, but then it is not flooded here yet. The river is overflowed but there has been no flood in the forest.”
“We have to keep on looking.” River said. “The wind is getting stronger and we will not be able to continue driving through.”
Paulie and River continued looking, hours passed and they could not find Yurania Ylang, Cachita and the tow truck man. They could not even find the tow truck. “We better go back” River said. “Maybe the tow truck was able to make it through and the driver took the girls home.”
“You are Right River.” Paulie said. “Let’s go home before this storm gets worse and we won’t be able to make it back.”
Paulie drove back home, just before the storm really got bad. “Did the girls come home?” Paulie asked.
“No they have not come home yet.” Andric said. “Where did they go?”
“Andric, I am sorry I have not told you,” Paulie said. “Cachita and Yurania went to get a pumpkin pie to Genova’s bakery near the mall, the car did not go on and had to be towed, but the storm was blowing so hard that the tow truck driver had to take the women to safety.”
“How come he did not bring them home?” Andric asked. “He would have gotten paid for it.”
“He was going to bring them home.” River said. “The storm got worst, the street got flooded, and due to a fallen tree the truck driver had to make a detour and had to drive into the forest. Yurania Ylang then called me, but before she could tell me where they wer,e her phone died. Ian went to let Drone know but the street was flooded and he went to find a way to get to the cave. Paulie and I looked in the forest for hours and could not find them or the tow truck. We then decided to come back, thinking that they were able to make it home. The storm is getting worse.”
“Those women are crazy.” Andric said. “They knew that this is the storm season, and there was a severe storm warning, yet they went out. Where can they be?”
“We will go back out and look for them.” Paulie said. “There is too much danger out there and Cachita may be in labor soon.”
“Where are you going to look? Andric asked. “The wind is too strong; it is late and dark out there.”
Paulie said. “I can’t just stay here knowing that my wife may be in danger and in labor. I have to go and look for her.”
“I will go with you.” River said. “Andric you stay here in case they call you or Drone and Ian contact you. Call us as soon as you hear anything from the girls. We will call you when we find them.”
Paulie and River got in the jeep and drove away. The jeep was covered and had all the equipment they thought they needed to find the women.
All o a sudden the wind got so strong that houses trees and cars were flying through the air. Paulie drove the jeep under a big tunnel to escape the storm. Hours passed and finally the storm was over. Paulie and River had to push a lot of debris that was blocking the entrance to the tunnel. When they finally got out, it was daylight and a lot of devastation. Houses were destroyed, cars were overturned, trees and power poles were down. Paulie and River proceeded to go look for Yurania Ylang and Cachita.
Where can Yurania Ylang and Cachita be? Did the women finally find the cave entrance by mistake? Will Cachita still be pregnant and not given birth?
Stay tuned for chapter 13.

RIVER PART II-Chapter 11-Looking for the Cave

.RIVER-PART II
By Ruth M Garcia-Marmolejos

Chapter 11
Looking for the Cave
Yurania Ylang and Cachita followed Andric. Yurania Ylang made sure that she was far enough; she did not want to be seen. Finally Andric parked the limo near the trees in the forest. “Drone and Yamarah should be arriving soon.” Cachita said.

“We will follow Andric when he gets out of the car.” Yurania Ylang said.

Andric did not get out of the car. “Maybe the cave entrance is near.” Yurania Ylang said. “No one can see the entrance and when Drone and Yamarah come out of the cave they will quickly walk to the limo and Andric will drive them to the Mall.
“Let’s go back.” Cachita said. “I don’t feel good doing this. We are betraying their trust.”

“No, we can’t go back, not yet.” Yurania Ylang said. “We are already here; I want to know where the cave is. We will wait until Yamarah and Drone get in the car.

Andric started the car and began to drive. “They must be here.” Yurania Ylang said. “Andric must be trying to be careful not to let anyone see him. Yamarah and Drone must be getting out of the cave, and Andric is now going to pick them up.”

Yurania Ylang followed Andric, she kept her distance, and parked across the street being careful not to let Andric see her. Yurania Ylang wanted to see when Yamarah and Drone came out of the cave.

“There they are.” Cachita said, “But where did they come from? I did not see them come out of any cave.”

“I did not see where they came from either.” Yurania Ylang said. “I did not see any cave entrance. They must have been behind the trees. As soon as they leave we will look around, it must not be very far.”

Andric drove away and Yurania Ylang parked the car near where Andric had been waiting for Drone and Yamarah. “Come on let’s get out of the car.” Yurania Ylang said.

“Where are we going?” Cachita asked. “Yurania Ylang, you promised that you would not go to the cave.”

“We are not going to the cave.” Yurania Ylang replied.” I just want to know where the entrance is, it must be nearby.”

Both women got out of the car and walked around the area where they saw Drone and Yamarah walking from. They even walked behind the trees, and could not find the entrance to the cave. They walked and walked but found nothing, not even rocks. “I guess it’s not anywhere around here.” Cachita said. “Take me home, I am tired. Just forget about the cave.

“OK, we could not find it this time.” Yurania Ylang said. “Next time we will follow them when they leave from here to go to the cave. I will take you home, and then go help River.”

“What do you mean next time?” Cachita asked. “I am not coming back here. You heard what they said, that if anyone who has never been to the cave or the other side that the entrance will close forever. I do not want Paulie to be stuck on the other side. Even if he is on this side, I do not want Paulie to never see his parents again. For that matter, I do not want to get stuck on the other side. River will also never see his mother again.”

“Do you really believe all that nonsense?” Yurania Ylang asked. “Something is there that they do not want us to see. I will not go into the cave, but I just want to see where the cave is, for now.”

“Yurania Ylang you are going to make trouble for us.” Cachita said. “Take me home please.”

The women walked to the car, and got in it. “If anyone asks where we were, we tell them we went for lunch.” Yurania Ylang said. “Then to the Mall to look at Baby stuff. Hey I got an idea. Let’s go window shopping for baby stuff, and then we won’t be lying.”

“Good idea.” Cachita said. “I need new clothes, noting fits me any more, my belly is growing too fast. The baby is due by Thanksgiving. I also need comfortable shoes.”

Yurania Ylang and Cachita went to the mall, ate lunch and went shopping for maternity clothes for Cachita. They also went to look at wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses. “I know that it’s a long time for Christmas.” Yurania Ylang said. “Time goes very fast and I want the perfect wedding dress. Cachita, will you be my Matron of Honor? You are my best friend. The bride picks out the Matron of honor. I don’t know who River will pick as his Best Man. Please say yes, you will have given birth by Christmas.”

“Oh my God!” Cachita replied. “Of course I will be your Matron of Honor. Thank you for asking. I was hoping that you would ask me. So many people have appeared into our lives now. It will be hard for River to pick out his Best Man. Please Yurania; take me home, I am so tired.”

Yurania Ylang Drove Cachita home then went to River’s office.

“Where have you ladies been all day?” River asked. “Did you ladies have a good day?”

“Cachita and I went for lunch.” Yurania Ylang replied. “Then we went window shooing for baby stuff. We ended looking at Wedding dresses. I asked Cachita to be my Matron of Honor, and she gladly accepted. Cachita is my best friend. I hope you don’t mind River.”

“No I don’t mind.” River said. “You are the bride, as a matter of fact, I am asking Paulie to be my Best Man. Paulie is also my best friend. The rest of the wedding party we will think of who will be best bridesmaid, grooms and everything else. I am ready to go home now.”

Yurania Ylang had gone back to living with her parents, and River went to live at the big house after they had graduated.

“We have to start the plans to build our own house.” River said. “I am meeting with Paulie and Dad at home. Will you come with me so you can tell us how you want the house built ad the colors?”

“Oh yes, how exciting.” Yurania Ylang said. I already have an idea of the colors. You can also ask Paulie to be our best man while we are there together.”

Yurania Ylang felt bad for breaking her promise to River, but she is very curious and wants to know where the cave is. She will not go in the cave. “At least she will try not to.” She thought.

River and Yurania Ylang locked the office and went to the big house to meet Ian and River, who were there already waiting for them. River, Yurania Ylang, Paulie and Ian had dinner then went to the Study to draw the plans for Yurania Ylang and River‘s house.

The plans were, drawn, the colors were picked, and everyone went to the living room to hear music drink wine and talk. “Paulie, I want to ask you something“. River said.

“OK, what happened now River?” Paulie asked. “Go ahead ask.”

“River said. “Paulie will you do me the honor of being the best Man at our wedding? You are my best friend.”

Paulie smiled and said. “I thought you would never ask, of course I will be your Best Man. I better go tell Cachita.”

“Ylang already asked Cachita and she accepted.” River said.

Cachita entered the living room at that moment and asked. “Did I hear my name mentioned in here?”

“Yes you did.” Paulie said. “River just asked me to be his Best Man at their wedding and I accepted. River also said that Yurania Ylang asked you to be the Matron of Honor and you said yes. We thought they would never ask.”

“Yes, Yamarah asked me.” Cachita said. “Isn’t it wonderful? I will not be pregnant then, because the baby will be born on or before Thanksgiving.”

“Where are Drone and Yamarah?” Yurania Ylang asked. “I thought that they were coming over today after they went shopping.”

“They came by, but had to leave right away.” Paulie said. “It was getting late and they had a lot of packages.”

Yurania Ylang looked at Cachita who understood what she was trying to do. “Is my father home?” Cachita asked.

“Yes he came in a little while ago.” Paulie replied. “Did you girls enjoy the day together? Did you shop a lot?”

“I bought some maternity clothes.” Cachita said. “None of my clothes fit me any more. We also looked at baby stuff and bridal dresses. I really am tired, please excuse me, I want to go rest. Good night everyone.” Cachita felt very bad about what she had done, and went to her room.

“Good night Cachita.” Yurania Ylang said.” I can understand how tired you must be. We did a lot of walking today. I too am tired, I am going home. I will call you tomorrow; maybe we can go out for lunch and shopping another day. Good night everyone.”

“I will accompany you home. “ River said.

“No, River, I can go home by myself.” Yurania Ylang said. “I do not live far from here; I will call you when I get home.”

River accompanied Yurania Ylang to her car. “Are you alright Yamarah?” River asked. “You have been acting kind of weird. Is there anything wrong?”

“No my love.” Yurania Ylang replied. “I guess the excitement of the wedding and building our new house has overwhelmed me. I am ok.” Yurania Ylang kissed River, got in the car and drove home. “I know that what I am doing is wrong.” Yurania Ylang said to herself. “I hate deceiving River this way, but I must find out where the cave is.”

The plot thickens, Will Yurania Ylang continue her quest to find the cave?

RIVER PART II-Chapter 10-Happy Surprises

RIVER-PART II
By Ruth M Garcia-Marmolejos

Chapter 10
Happy Surprise

Jon was surprised and said. ”I want you to tell me about it now. I cannot wait. This is too big a story; I want to hear it all.”

Ian then sat down and told Jon the whole story about when he met Yamarah, and learned about having a son.

“Well, things happen and you were young Dad.” Jon said. “River, I am proud to have a brother like you. All these years attending the same college and we did not know we were brothers.”

Everyone went home and days later Jon was released from the hospital.

Graduation day was getting near, and River was going to propose to Yurania Ylang. Ian asked River, if it would be alright to celebrate a surprise engagement party. “It will be a dinner party in my house. “ Ian said. “I will invite friends and family if it is OK with you. You can invite whomever you want River. After dinner we go into the garden, and you propose to Yurania Ylang.”

“Of course it is OK with me.” River said. “I will tell Yurania Ylang that you invited us to dinner. I will be honored to have my engagement party at my father’s house with family and friends.”

The day of the dinner arrived and Family and friends were there. River and Yurania Ylang were the last ones to arrive. Dinner was served and everyone enjoyed the delicious food. “Let us go to the garden.” Jon said. “It is a lovely evening.”

“You go ahead Ylang.” River said. “I will be out in a minute I have to get something that I forgot in the car.”

Yurania Ylang followed everyone to the garden. Tables and chairs were set, with beautiful flowers around the garden. All of sudden the lights were turned off. In the middle of the garden was a lighted fountain. The fountain had statues of a couple holding hands forming a heart. In the middle was a spinning crystal glass ball. The crystal glass ball spins off while the pump underneath shoots water up to make spinning motion. River was standing in front of the fountain and said. “Ylang, will you please come close to me?”

Yurania Ylang walked toward River, not knowing what was going on. When Yurania Ylang got close to River, he got down on one knee, opening a jewel box he had in his hands. “Ylang we have come a long way.” River said. “I promised you that before we got our doctorate degree in college we would get engaged then after we graduated and received our tittles we would get married.” River opened the box, took the engagement ring out, gently grabbed Yurania Ylang’s hand and said. “We fell in love with our souls for I was blind. You loved me even though I was blind. I loved you in spite of you thinking I would never love you because you were overweight. I have never stopped loving you and want to spend the rest of my life with you. Yurania Ylang will you accept this ring as a token of our love and engagement. Will you marry me?”

Yurania Ylang was overwhelmed; she did not expect such a beautiful surprise. “River, we have been together and survived rough times.” Yurania Yland said. “The first time that I saw you, my heart knew you were going to be my forever love. I fell in love with the boy, with a wonderful heart. I did not think about you being blind. You loved me no matter what, even though I thought a handsome guy such as you would not fall in love with a fat girl. Our sacrifices in out last graduation, you getting fat and me loosing weight, was proof that our love is true. Yes River, I am honored to accept the ring and yes, I will marry you.”

River put the ring on Yurania Ylang’s finger, got up and the couple sealed heir love and engagement with a kiss.

Everyone applauded, the lights went back on and everyone congratulated the happy couple.

The maids pushed a table with a beautiful three tiered cake to the center of the garden. A big engagement ring adorned the top of the cake, Jasmines, and Ylang Ylang flowers with their leaves surrounded the cake. Then the musicians started to play romantic music for the couple to dance. “What a beautiful cake.” Yurania Ylang said. “This has been a wonderful surprise.”

“All of this was my father Ian’s idea.” River said. “Ian went with me to help me choose the ring. I did not know that he was my father at the time.”

“The ring is gorgeous.” Yurania Ylang said. Everything is beautiful.”

“Shall we set the date of the wedding now or do you want to wait.” River said.

“Can we have the wedding on Christmas Day?” Yurania Ylang asked.

“A Christmas wedding it shall be.” River replied. “Let’s tell everyone now.”

River asked the musicians to turn off the music for a moment. “I would like to have your attention everyone.” River said. “Before we start the music again and dance, Yurania Ylang and I have an announcement to make.”

Everyone turned their attention toward River and Yurania Ylang. “We have set our wedding date for Christmas Day.” River said. “You will know the details when you received the invitations. Thank you very much for your attention. Now the musicians can turn the music back on.”

Everyone applauded and the music was turned on again. Yurania’s parents were the first to congratulate and danced with the couple. Yamarah and Ian went next, then Drone and Rose, Jon and Pamela, Paulie and Cachita, both pair of grandparents, then everyone else. The party was spectacular.

“Thank you for the beautiful party you have made for our son and his fiancĂ© Ian.” Yamarah said. “Everything has been wonderful.”

“No need to thank me.” Ian said. “It is the least I have done for our son. Now we have to plan the wedding.”

“Drone and I are leaving.” Yamarah said, “It’s too late to go to our cabin, so we will be staying at the big house for tonight.”

Everyone else thanked Ian and Rose for the wonderful party they had and went home.

Paulie’s parents also stood in the big house for the night. The following day, Cachita and Paulie called River and asked if he and Yurania Ylang would go to the big house “Cachita and I have an announcement to make.” Paulie said. “I want you and Yurania Ylang to be present. Will you come?”

“What’s wrong Paulie?” River asked. “Has anything bad happened?”

“I will tell everyone this afternoon.” Paulie said.

River and Yurania Ylang went to the big house. Andric, Drone, Yamarah, Paulie’s parents were there too. Everyone was curious as to what Paulie and Cachita had to say

“I have gathered all of you here today to make two announcements. I did not say anything last night at the party because it was River and Yurania Ylang’s night. The first announcement is that Cachita and I have been married since we returned from our journey to Najikala Island. We were so glad to see each other and did not want to wait any longer, so we eloped. We did however have Andric and my parent’s blessings. We asked them not to tell anyone until Cachita and I gave the announcement. The second announcement no one knew, We are going to have a baby,. Yes, Cachita is pregnant.”

Everyone was surprised. “Let me be the first to congratulate you my friend. “ River said. “So many wonderful things are happening.”

“I am going to be a grandpa.” Andric said. “The patter of little feet will finally be heard in this big ole house.”

Everyone else hugged and congratulated Cachita and Paulie.

Graduation day arrived and Paulie, Cachita, River and Yurania Ylang finally had their Doctorate degrees. River and Yurania Ylang were now Official Ophthalmologists,

Paulie was now an Architect graduate and Cachita a Psychologist.

Yamarah and Drone went back to their cabin in the mountains, taking Paulie’s parents home. Paulie was offered an executive position at a very well known company, River and Yurania Ylang continued to work in the same hospital but both were offered higher ranking positions. Cachita was offered a job as head Psychologist in the same hospital that River and Yurania Ylang worked.

River continued his practice at the hospital then decided to have his own private office, near the hospital. River performed the eye surgeries at the same hospital. Yurania Ylang worked part time with River in their own private office, and she also worked part time at the hospital.

Yurania Ylang often thought about the other side of the cave and one day she invited Cachita for lunch near the hospital. “Cachita, have you ever wondered what it is like on the other side of the cave?” Yurania Ylang asked.

“Yes I have.” Cachita replied. “I have wondered about what it’s like and have been tempted to go find out, but I promised Drone and father that I would never go there.”

“Do you think it is true what they say?” Yurania Ylang asked. “River said that the cave might close and disappear. Whoever is on the other side would never come back, and vice verse.”

“I don’t know.” Cachita said. “I would hate to be the one to cause any problems.”

“Do you think that maybe we can go and maybe see the entrance?” Yurania Ylang asked.

“How are we going to see it, if we do not know where it is?” Cachita replied.

“Maybe we can follow Andric the next time he goes to pick up Drone.” Yurania Ylang said. “We don’t have to go in the cave, I am just curious.”

I don’t think it is a good idea.” Cachita said. “I made a promise not to ever go near the cave or even think about going there. I do not want to break my promise to my father and Drone.”

“Aren’t you the least bit curious?” Yurania Ylang asked. “I promised River that I would not go, but I have to know or a least see where the cave is. Come on, we will not be breaking our promise if we accidentally saw your father on the road and stopped to say hello after the cave entrance appeared. Please say yes and go with me you will not break your promise, you will be accompanying me to go visit a friend who lives in the area.”

Cachita thought for a moment and asked. “Do you know when Drone will be coming back?”

“Ask you father.” Yurania Ylang replied. “He may know. How are you feeling with the pregnancy? Have you felt the baby kick? Have you had your fist sonogram? I bet you want to find out if it is a girl or a boy. Let me know what your father says about when Drone will come back here.”

“I will ask father and let you know.” Cachita said. “I have an appointment tomorrow to see the GYN; we will have the first sonogram and will know the baby’s sex. I have felt slight kicking, I feel good now, and the dizziness and nausea have gone away. We have to start thinking of what name to give our baby. I have to go back to work at the hospital now Thanks for the lunch. I will keep in touch”

“I have to go to the office; River may be busy and needs me.” Yurania Ylang said. “You are very welcomed.”

Yurania Ylang drove to the office, and River was very busy. “Did you have a nice lunch with Cachita? River asked. “How is Cachita feeling with her pregnancy?”

“Yes we had a nice lunch.” Yurania Ylang replied. “Cachita is feeling very well.”

River went back to his patients and Yurania Ylang also went to see her patients.

Days later Cachita called Yurania Ylang and said. “Father will be picking Drone and your mother up tomorrow morning. Yamarah wants to go shopping at the mall.”

“Good, I am off tomorrow.” Yurania Ylang said. “Can you go with me? I hate going by myself. I promise we will not go in. I will pick you up at the hospital entrance.”

“I will take the day off, and go with you.” Cachita said. “I hate what I am doing, but I too am very curious. I will be waiting for you in front of the hospital.”

The following morning Yurania Ylang picked Cachita up and went to wait for Andric to come out of the big house, and then follow him.

What will happen when Yurania Ylang and Cachita follow Andric to the cave entrance? Will they see the entrance? Will Yurania Ylang and Cachita be tempted to go in the cave?
